Waxed cotton
We source our waxed cotton from an HISTORIC waxing house in bonnie Scotland. Here's what the experts have to say on this under-used fabric: "The beauty of waxed cotton is its durability and longevity — it is built to last. The densely woven cotton is strong and reliable and unlike many alternatives, can be maintained by the end user.
Responsibly sourced cotton and low impact manufacturing make our waxed cotton a sustainable choice. Garments can be proofed to keep up performance and protection levels, ensuring they last for many years."

Social Enterprise
The Contents Bag is constructed at London based social enterprise Fabric Works: "FabricWorks is a leading UK ethical clothing and textile manufacturer. We are a social enterprise, producing new and mending old garments, homeware and textile items from our East London studio.
Our enterprise offers holistic support to our staff and students that work and learn with us. Our free training programmes teach local women sewing skills. Our enterprise supports women into work, many undertaking commissions, costed at the London Living Wage."

made in the uk
The entire collection of The Contents Bag products are printed and constructed in the UK. By using UK based printers, finishers and manufacturers, we reduce our carbon footprint, support our local economy and are confident that our products are made in ethical working conditions. Many of our partners have a long standing history steeped in excellence and innovation, which means we can deliver a high quality product to our customers. They also have reliable connections with the cotton producers in Bangladesh, sourcing ethical cotton to use for our bags. (We'd love to use British cotton, but that is not a thing. The great British weather not being conducive to a successful cotton crop!)
