How to Machine Wash Your Contents Bag
Life happens, bags get grubby. Here’s the safest way to machine wash your Contents Bag when it really needs a full clean.
Quick heads-up on waxed cotton
Our bags are made luxe, British heritage waxed cotton. Machine washing is totally fine occasionally, but it will soften the fabric and reduce the waxed finish a little over time. For everyday marks, spot clean first.
Machine wash instructions
1) Prep
-
Empty the bag and shake out crumbs.
-
Close any zips.
-
Put the bag in a pillowcase or laundry bag to protect the fabric and hardware.
2) Settings
-
Temperature: 30°C max (cool wash)
-
Cycle: Delicates / Gentle
-
Spin: Low spin (600–800 rpm)
3) Detergent
-
Use a small amount of mild, non-bio liquid detergent.
-
No fabric softener
-
No bleach or stain removers
Drying (important!)
-
Do not tumble dry.
-
Reshape while damp, then air dry naturally away from radiators and direct sun.
After washing
Expect the bag to feel a bit softer and look slightly more matte — that’s normal for waxed cotton. If you ever want to refresh the wax finish, you can re-wax it (will share a guide soon).
